T’is the season for me to remember I should upload my Christmas content!

To tell the truth, the past few years I’ve made a conscious effort to unplug around the holiday. I want to spend more quality time with the kids (yes there are now two!).

Nostalgia but make it 2024
For years I thought the muted Christmas as I’ve done before (see here) brought me joy and calm, but as the years go by I am more and more drawn to ‘tacky’ colorful Christmas. I still adore seeing homemade ornaments, cards, crafts, colorful lights, tinsel, and non-aesthetic Christmas. Something about it feels so much more real and warm. So I set out to make sure my kids could feel xmas throw up in our house lol!

I was a classic millennial through and through, with tacky tinsel, glass ornaments, and incandescent lights growing up. So I want to bring back those same feelings, and make things warm and cosy again.

Though I’d argue we still have a pretty “aesthetic” ish design for everything, I feel extra proud that the colors are all bright and happy and I’m genuinely not stopping the kids from adding their flair to anything. The more Christmas drawings or crafts we make or they bring home from daycare, the better. Every single one is joining the tree this year!

This year we blended in some colorful lights into our tree (the best part is that during the day it’s hardly noticeable, but at night is an awesome cozy addition and really pops!
So lo-and behold, our bright and colorful Christmas 2024! I’ll do my best to share more content, but truth be told this blog is a hobby and fun, and my posts aren’t super consistent because I’ll forget to take photos or just be busy working, living, wrangling two kiddos.
Merry Christmas!

Thanks for checking out the living room of the Thomsons in ’24 Christmas!
